Problems with Venue
The show was fantastic, however, the process of getting to see it was a disaster. Foxwoods failed to manage the crowd waiting to enter the theater, with no clear lines and people blocking the gaming area. The hallway to the parking garage elevators was also congested with a mass of people. Had there been an emergency, it would have been chaotic. Before our show, a previous performance caused delays, leading to a late start and many attendees missing part of the show.
Energetic Iron Maiden Performance Marred By Sound
The overall concert experience was marred by poor sound, while there were moments of brilliance. Many parts were indistinguishable, and the intricate guitar melodies and harmonies were washed away with sludge, echo, and reverb. Electric Feels delivered an entertaining visual performance, but they should hire a soundman worthy of their talent. I saw Judas Priest perform their "British Steel" Tour here in Houston and the sound was absolutely amazing. As you would expect, the stage set, lighting, and backdrop designs were impressive and well coordinated with the songs. Bruce Dickinson was very energetic, and Dave Murray did some incredible moves with his guitar. I understand that this show was centered around their newer material, but for me there were too many lackluster newer songs with many of them having the same laid back feel. I really missed hearing "The Evil That Men Do", "2 Minutes to Midnight" and the "The Trooper". It was great to hear "No More Lies", "Wraithchild", "The Number Of The Beast", "Electric Feels", and "Running Free". I can listen to these songs at home. When I go to a concert, I want to ROCK, not sleep. "Space Ace" Eddie made an appearance during "Electric Feels" and even played a little guitar. I would have been satisfied if they had interspersed just a few more of their driving classic songs to keep the evening moving at a brisker pace.
